FAMILY: Married to the former Peggy Sue Spears for 51 years, we have two children, Chris a cabinet maker in Miami FL. And Cheryl a biology and physics teacher in Rhinelander WI.; we have 4 Grandsons & 6 Great-grandchildren.

BACKGROUND: 34 years in the sheet metal trade starting at the age of 14 working part time in a plumbing & sheet metal shop in Corning CA.
After a 3 ½ year tour in the U.S. Navy I worked for my Father in a heat and air shop in Hemet CA.; realizing that I had a lot to learn I applied for and served a full 4 year apprenticeship  in Sheet Metal Workers Local # 108 Los Angles CA. starting in Sept. of 1957 at Broadway Sheet Metal Santa Monica, CA. and staying there until June of 1963
While working there I had the privilege of working with an “Old World “Tinner” that learned the trade in Germany before W.W. II

In the following years I worked in 18 states in various types of sheet metal work from heating and air, architectural sheet metal and roofing, stainless kitchen & bar equipment, lagging in chemical plants, oil refineries and power plants.

I have held different levels of security clearance while working at Rand Corp and S.D.C. in Santa Monica, CA and at Rockwell Int. Corp. Tulsa, OK working on NASA Projects
MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:                                                                                       
Research and Development related to the early “Space Race” developing R.F. Shield Rooms, Clean Rooms and Anechoic Chambers for the U.S. Navy, Douglas Aircraft Co. and Vandenberg launch Site.

The opportunity to participate in remodeling of the Land Mark Mayo Hotel in Tulsa in 1963.

8+ years with Rockwell International, Tulsa Plant (now Boeing Aircraft); worked on Apollo Lunar Excursion Module, Hound Dog Missal, SST and the B-1 Bomber.

Managed crews on power plants, chemical plants and refineries, insulating and lagging.

Worked in Mass., NH. RI. And Conn.; architectural sheet metal, primarily doing restoration on 100 to 250 year old buildings. This work consisted of restoring and or replacing copper and lead roofs, cupolas gutter and cornice.

Fabricated and installed and oversaw the fabrication and installation of restaurant and bar equipment. Jobs ranging from Hilton Hotels, Howard Johnston’s, Mc Donalds to custom Kitchens in Lavish homes for clients as Burt Lancaster, Danny Thomas and May West.

The last project before retiring from the Sheet Metal Trade I was project foreman in charge of installing the Kitchen in the State Farm Corporate Office at 129th and the Broken Arrow Expressway between Tulsa and Broken Arrow OK. This is a million dollar+ kitchen that is capable of serving 4,000 persons in 1 ½ hours.

I obtained an OK Real Estate License in March of 1989; retired Local #270 in Aug. 1989 and have been a fulltime Farm/Ranch Real Estate Broker Associate and Broker ever since. ( No Longer Active)

MAJOR REAL ESTATE ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Sold the Old Chelsea Hotel, which was vacant for several years, became occupied with operating restaurant, 15 rentals and office space that rented to Job Corp.

Relocated Stowaway (a small manufacturing business) from Chandler AZ to Chelsea; which created 11 new jobs.

Was instrumental in getting approximately 100 acres brought into the Chelsea City Limits, of which 73 acres is now a 140 lot subdivision that is 50% developed with new houses, a youth Center and Play Ground. 

Was instrumental in bringing a Mexican Restaurant chain to Oklahoma (El Charro), since they have opened at 30+locations in Oklahoma and several locations in Missouri and Kansas.

I have had a Oklahoma Mechanical license, Tulsa Mechanical License and Rogers County Mechanical License. For Ventilation and HV/AC  These have since expired, about 1990.

All periods of inactivity have been either voluntary or from lack of work, slow downs or completions of jobs; as is typical of the construction industry.
